This unique 4-piece Denver-based band brings an eclectic mix of upbeat blues, New Orleans-style funk, and rock influenced originals, as well as putting a new spin on classic covers by artists like Muddy Waters, Bill Withers, and Johnny Cash. GAMB has played regularly at Colorado venues such as Appaloosa Bar and Grill, Local 46, Lola, and the St. Julien Hotel. The band includes Medicine on harmonica/vocals, Adam Bartczak on trombone/conch shell, Matt Skellenger on bass, and Zach West on drums. The members have played in diverse musical settings around Colorado for many years, including extended projects with renowned Colorado artists Ron Miles, Askimbo, Yo, Flaco!, and Beats Noir.

This 19-piece big band featuring some of Colorado's finest players has been performing regularly since its formation in 2012, with gigs at Colorado venues such as Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge, The King Center, and the Five Points Jazz Festival. The group plays all original compositions and arrangements in a broad diversity of styles, including swing, Afro-Cuban, and funk. Each performance features new original material written for the band's talented personnel. The Republic's first studio release Grass Is Greener is available on Dazzle Recordings.

Duke Ellington wrote a song in 1931 titled “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” and for a generation of music lovers those were words to live by. Swing music ruled the airwaves and the dance floors throughout the 1930s and 40s, and the artists that led the bands became internationally beloved celebrities. This energetic modern jazz quintet features all original music by its members, who have collaborated with many great artists in Colorado and beyond. The Democracy was awarded a Pathways to Jazz grant to record its self-titled debut album, recently released its second album, "Second Term" and has been entertaining audiences in venues and festivals since its formation in 2016, constantly evolving with forward looking compositions and exciting interaction among its members.
